Core Web Vitals

Google judges Core Web Vitals on real visits, at the 75th percentile of CrUX field data. A green Lighthouse run does not change that number. Fixing what slows down real users does.

The three metrics

01
LCP
Largest Contentful Paint. Good at 2.5 seconds or less. On WordPress it is usually a server, cache or hero image problem.

INP
Interaction to Next Paint. Good at 200 ms or less. Long JavaScript tasks from themes, page builders and third-party tags are the common cause.

CLS
Cumulative Layout Shift. Good at 0.1 or less. Fonts, ads, embeds and images without reserved space make the layout jump.
